Non-Surgical Face Lift

This procedure offers minimal downtime as it is non-surgical and minimally invasive. A thread lift directly targets sagging skin and lifts them to their desired place. Patients have noticed a reduction in the visibility of their fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, sagging brows, jowls and marionette lines. Patients commonly use the procedure to lift their nose, under eye bags, sagging eyebrows, lips, jowls, jawline and neckline. Thread lifts stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid to tighten, shape and hydrate the skin naturally and hold the changes, made by the thread lifts, in place.

A non-surgical face lift uses absorbable sutures to hold the lifts in place without damaging the skin and causing need for removal. After the procedure, you will see immediate results that will gradually increase over the recovery period. This procedure can be combined with several cosmetic procedures such as dermal fillers and laser treatments to achieve and enhance different results. Threads are used to target skin laxity and ensure a patient has smooth, wrinkle-less skin. A thread lift has a shorter recovery time in comparison to a face lift, making it the best option for those who cannot afford the recovery period of surgeries and are looking for a quicker, more natural procedure.

What to expect

The sutures used are designed to dissolve over time: usually they dissolve after 12 to 18 months. Patients do not need our team to remove the sutures.

The threads have barbs on the end, which the thread uses to anchor to the skin as well as the tissue and muscles under the skin. Once inserted, the body is triggered to heal as the body detects a foreign object, the suture, and wants to remove the suture from under the skin. Collagen will build around the gaps in sagging skin once stimulated.

Results & aftercare for-Non Surgical Face Lift

Thread lifting requires several factors of aftercare to ensure the recovery process is smooth. After your treatment you will be provided aftercare instructions to ensure your treatment results are upheld. We recommend our patients to avoid heavy lifting and physical activity for a week after the procedure. To maintain your results it is important to avoid saunas, hot tubs and swimming, and to avoid showering for 12 hours after the procedure. Patients should not apply makeup for 48 hours post-treatment and should not rub or massage their face. We recommend patients to apply ice packs to the treatment area if experiencing discomfort or swelling. It is important to not overwork your face so avoid foods you have to chew, drinking through a straw, smoking and pursing your lips.

Patients will notice a natural lift to their face which smooths out their fine lines and wrinkles. The skin’s tone and texture will improve as well as reflecting a softened, youthful appearance. The cheeks will look voluminous thanks to the face lift and production of collagen. Patients will find their sagging skin has more laxity and is less visible due to the lift. Results of a face lift are visible immediately however after three months they will be at their best.

Risks & complications

Patients will experience swelling for one to three days after the procedure before it then settles. Occasionally patients can see the threads underneath the skin or experience thread movement. Patients can experience bruising, pain, dimpling, hair loss, inflammation, foreign body reaction, blood clots, nerve trauma, numbness and thread breakage. It is unideal but in some cases patients either experience poor results or unevenness with their lift. This usually occurs when the threads are attached to an insubstantial amount of tissue or the threads are placed incorrectly. In rare cases, patients can experience infection at the thread sites or an allergic reaction to the sutures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I an ideal candidate for a thread lift?

An ideal candidate for a thread lift is someone with signs of premature ageing such as sagging skin that is looking to reverse these signs. Patients who are between 30 to 55 years old are ideal as this is when premature ageing signs begin to appear. Patients must have an understanding of the procedure and realistic expectations. Those who seek a thread lift are usually looking for a less invasive procedure that is an alternative to a face lift surgery.

How long does a thread lift last?

A thread lift will last differently for each patient as they dissolve over time. Most threads last 12 to 18 months. Collagen will form to hold the lift in place, allowing the results to last for approximately a year. A patient’s age and skin type will affect the length of time the threads last.

Is a thread lift painful?

A thread lift is not associated with being painful as we use local anaesthesia on our patients before the procedure to minimise any discomfort. After the procedure some patients experience pain behind the ears which settles after 24 hours. We recommend patients to take painkillers if any pain or discomfort occurs after the treatment.
